Hey guys-

I recently had some neck surgery that did not effect the cords, but because of minor scarring, has affected my singing voice in that there is still tightness on the side of my neck where the surgery was. I saw a voice doctor, and they said acupuncture might be worth a shot.

I was just wondering if anyone here has ever had acupuncture, and if your a singer, did you have it on your neck and how did it affect your voice?

I LOVE accupuncture. I have moderate asthma and constant back pain and tension which does interfere with my singing, and I tried accupuncture and felt such a difference. It's been about 5 weeks since my treatment, and I'm still feeling way less back pain than usual and my breathing has been a lot better. Massages are really great, too. If it's just for tension, a good massage would probably be helpful. I like to get a sports massage because a massage therapist doing a sports massage generally looks at it from a medical point of view, as opposed to a relaxation type thing (which it is, but it is also very beneficial in a medical sense) and would probably be able to help out the tightness in your neck.

I love accupuncture though...I'd say try the accupuncture and see what happens.
