"papa crush tiny jag!"
I never got over being called TANK in junior high...once the weight came off, I vowed (just like Scarlett) while shaking a can of Metracal towards the heavens..."As God is my witness I'll never be FAT again."

I'm not American so I have enjoyed watching this all unfold and I have a fear that McCain will trash Obama if he wins the nomination. I think people are underestimating Clinton and when the media love fest for Obama settles down - watch out! Clinton has been trashed so often that there's not much more they can do to her .
Comparing Clinton to Tatcher is wrong because Thatcher was a conservative so they are very different. Thacher and Coulter might be better!

"No. I'm not doing the searching and the cutting and the pasting for you."
So backing up what you say has become my job? That's a good one. In that case, I'll pass. I'm perfectly content to let your statements sit there without backup.
but let's not pretend that there's nothing wild going on in the country at the moment. and it's just going to get wilder."
um, okay. That's kinda bizarre. Wild? Why are you so scared of people's enthusiasm that you feel the need to portray it as madness?

I didn't say it was madness. Don't put words in my mouth.

You're right. You didn't. "Zealous," "nasty," "bitter" and "wild" were the words you used, not "madness." I apologize.

I was at a brunch where the opposite syndrome was decidedly in place. My announcement of support for Obama was quietly patronized. For my naivete and my desire to be "young." I was also lectured by a gay couple who had too much caffeine (one a close friend, the partner not) for not appreciating Hillary's demonstration of loyalty to the gay community, because she voted against the Defense of Marriage Act. Brava, good for her. But I'm hardly going to use that as a basis for casting my lot with her with ther issues facing us. Including her other infamous vote.
Most people I know who've finally opted to vote for Obama did not do so in a sweaty fervor. A lot of us were for Edwards or Kucinich and when we lost them along the way, have continued to reconsider how to cast our vote. We made a measured decision based on the evidence. We decided against Clinton in our own moment of being 'pragmatic,' as we continue to look at match-ups with McC. That's our prerogative.
But we weren't gaga just-let-me-be-young-again! fanatics who wanted to 'get with the movement.' Movements don't interest me; seeing another America does.
Most of us could not get past the Clinton war vote and her subsequence defense of it (as indeed Eve Ensler and 1000 or more feminists who signed the "not in our name" statement of non-support for Senator Clinton.) It's not mysogeny or even "Clinton Baggage" that is the issue. We have a right to not like her foreign policy decisions. And we have a right to say, If this your campaign, why should we be so sure about your "On Day One" mantra?
This election may be about passion, but for many of us, it's also about thinking and deciding. With our heads, our life experience, our judgement. Not our desire to get on a moving train.

Posted: 2/26/08 at 2:42pmso basically, auggie, you've been against blondie from day one (over one vote) and now you've hitched your wagon to bam bam because he's the only non-female left in the race?

Obama may have been "against" the war but he voted to fund it and re-fund each time it came up for a vote.
So what does "against" mean?
