I never noticed this before, but while I was watching my Season One DVD of "The Nanny" I noticed that Maxwell Sheffield has a windowcard for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA prominently displayed on his wall.

This is only season one, it may have been removed in later seasons and I just didn't notice.

But, does anyone else find it funny that Maxwell Sheffield LOATHES Andrew Lloyd Webber, yet he has a window card for Webber's most successful Broadway show in his office?

I am a dedicated Nanny fan, too. But I have never noticed this. It is odd.

I love The Nanny! Remember this?

Fran: I thought you hated cats.
Max: No I hate Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats.

Love the Webber jokes!

Did you ever see the one where they have this dream sequence where they're all really, really old. They're all getting ready to go to a special benefit to honor something like the 9 millionth show of "Cats".

In the final week of the series Max has a hit show on Broadway and the first thing he does is mail all the reviews to ALW. That rivalry went on all through the series.

Perhaps they needed playbills or something, recognizable, and chose POTO.

Then they thought it would be funny to have him mock ALW, so they took it down.

Or the producers of THE NANNY got into a fight with someone involved with POTO. Hah.

I love that show. Though I've always gotten a little defensive when Maxwell is talking about his fantasies... "Cats closing, Phantom closing, Sunset Boulevard closing!" Okay, so I only get defensive about the last two...

well, that was the pilot episode. they didn;t know if the show would work or not, so probably got a cheapish set.

just a guess.
