I was listening to some Sondheim (how rare) and came across one of my favorite lyrics of his which made me wonder what on earth inspired it....

Well, THE FROGS was originally performed in an indoor swimming pool at Yale. I'm sure the ventilation wasn't great.
I know the acoustics were horrid. That's why the song has the lines about "the echo sometimes lasts for days... ays... ays... ays... ays... ays... ays... "
