Any of you West Coasters seen this show in West Hollywood? I hear they just opened a second company in Chicago, and it's supposed to open off-broadway this summer. What's the scoop on this show? Is it good? I did a thread search, and found one thread, but it's old. Just curious if anyone has seen it lately or knows any of the gossip. Here's the website:

I'm actually seeing Bark! on Friday with a bunch of Drama kids (it's all part of this big Hollywood trip). I'll post a mini-review of some sort.
But I've heard good things about it.
I can already see the critics sharpening their knives & geeting ready for the clever digs re the fact it is about dogs

Cool!! Thanks. I'd be interested to see how this thing is. It's been running for over a year. With a second company, and plans for New York, somebody must like it.
OK - I actually hated it. I thought it was one of the silliest things I have ever seen. I sat there the whole time just wondering how these very talented people felt having to dress like dogs and sing some of the songs.
Some people apparently really like it. Just different tastes I guess.
Gav, I would be interested in hearing what you think.
BTW - notwithstanding my avatar, I hate Cats as well.

Yeah, the concept seems like it has the potential to be hokey. But it seems like it's doing well. Who knows? Anyway, I listened to some of the song samples on the website. Not bad. I would be interested to see how the thing is staged though. Storyline, etc.

What is the staging like? Costumes, etc? So the cast was talented, but the material is bad?
Half price tickets have been on sale forever on Goldstar. It plays in a very small theater.
I would have walked out at intermission, but it was Mother's Day and my mom kept hoping that it would get better.
The costumes seemed kind of simple. A bit cheesy to me. I cannot really explain the staging. I have tried to black out the whole experience.
They just go through each dog and it tells its own story. Some of the actors were very talented.
Gav can probably give you a better assessment as it will be fresh in her head, and if she likes it, she will probably want to remember it.

Sort of like a smaller less obnoxious version of Cats

Oh, and Blake Pullen of FCLO's Miss Saigon is in it!
I'm excited now.

Oh yeah, I saw that on the website. He was pretty good in Miss Saigon. Not the best Chris I have ever seen, but he definitley held his own. He and Kristine Remigio looked good together I thought. He has got a really strong voice, though. If the rest of the Bark cast is in that neighborhood of ability, the performances will probably be strong. I have seen Kristi Holden (another Bark cast memeber according to the sight)in something before too. She was very good as I recall.

Well, I saw a DVD of Miss Saigon (got it from the crew captain), and in the first act, he was okay. But in the second act, he was GREAT.

Thanks for the scoop, Gavroche. I'll watch for your review. Anyone else know anything on this one?
