In regards to this post:
https://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?boardname=off&thread=845210>https://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?boardname=off&thread=845210
I received a PM from Jose' saying "The picture you posted...
is actually offensive in context of the thread you started, among other reasons. That person has problems that cause them to be that obese. I doubt that's a choice.
If you're confident about your own perfections of body and looks why not postpost a picture of yourself? I'm sure folks would enjoy commenting publicly.
Think before you post."
The first post in that thread was censored. The picture can be found here: https:// home.swiftdsl.com.au/~raza/asl.jpg (remove the space)
Now my question is to you: was I being offensive? Does my sense of humor overpower my judgement? Or is Jose' over-reacting?
My point in making the post is to make fun of the thought that you never really know who your talking to online. It was not to make fun of a person for being obese.
Like to hear your thoughts.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 12:58pmI didnt look at the initial thread, but in the context of 'you never know who you're really chatting with' I find that pretty amusing.

You didn't post that to make fun of people who are obese, you posted it as a jab at potential safety issues on the internet. Whether this is an issue that's funny and if not why we laugh at it is a completely different issue, but either way, people here seem to have found it funny.
Jose' isn't overreacting. He's overusing his power, and twisting the truth. Again. It must be because you wanted to play a game that randomly split board members up into teams, therefore suggesting that we further the chasms that have occured on this board. God forbid.
Like I said before, Jose's irony needs work.

Was his comments serious about the game?? I thought he was being sarcastic!
Jose', hun, it's just a trivia game!

No, no. Of course it was sarcasm. I said his irony needed work because of course HE was the one who voted to literally segregate the board, then turned around and made a backhanded comment to you about splitting people up. You know, people here reacted pretty harshly to his suggestion, so perhaps he was suggesting that yours was somewhat the same since his little stint didn't pan out.

Capn, I was not offended in the least. I understood what you were saying.
And....unless Jose knows this person in the picture personally, I'm wondering why he is speaking for him........or is he perhaps personalizing the whole thing and in reality, speaking to himself.?
Keep em coming, Capn.

"My point in making the post is to make fun of the thought that you never really know who your talking to online. It was not to make fun of a person for being obese."
If that were the point I was attempting to make then I would have found a mug shot of a known sex offender from someplace like SmokingGun.com.
But that's just me, if in fact, that was the point I was attempting to make.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 10:30pmIn the brief time I've been here (and lurking a bit, before joining), I find that a lot of people over-react to a lot of topics. I found nothing offensive about your thread. I have no idea who Jose is. But I assume he weilds some power here. Perhaps that was him in the photo?

agreed. Not pointing any fingers, but I think alot of people overreact to things posted on here, just becuase they, well, can. Why not piss someone you will never meet off?? It's funny to watch what happens...
And as a fat person (size 14/16,) I thought it was funny.

That's what I thought. Thanks for confirming I'm not out of control.
I respect Rob, Craig, and all who put their time into making BWW what it is. However, at least in the case of Jose', I believe the ones who need controling (or 'moderating') are such users as MarylinMonroe2.
