Oh man...

Maybe you've heard this type of story too many times, but my parents just came back from the vet, and they had to put my oldest dog to sleep. Oh man...

I've had him for most of my life. He was a good dog. I'll miss him so much...

I'm like a rock compared to my mom, who's actually crying. I'm in a state of sadness, but I'm not sad enough to cry. It's weird.

Anyway, I just needed to let that out. He's in a much happier situation now.

re: Oh man...

Sorry Gavrochegirl!
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

re: Oh man...

Oh - I don't think I can stand hearing about another loving animal crossing the bridge. This just saddens me so much. I fully sympathize and empathize with your mom. She just lost one of her babies.

Sorry gav. Hope you feel better!
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

re: Oh man...

Thanks for your support, you guys. My mom and I were talking on the way to dinner and she said that the vet said it was probably cancer, and that he had a tumor on his leg. Now we know a definite answer, which is always a sense of comfort if you know what I mean...

Oh, gav! My heart is breaking. I'm so, so sorry. We've had to put three dogs to sleep in my family, and I also work at a vet...I know just how hard it is. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm so sorry! Giving up a pet is like losing a best friend. Keep strong, and I'll hug my guide dog for you!

re: Oh man...

Gav I'm so sorry to hear this.

I am coming up on the year anniversary of when I ahd to put my cat Sweetpea down, so I know how you all feel.

Just be there for your Mom, and give her this website

http://www.rainbowsbridge.com

She can put up a memorial there. It helped me.

The interesting thing about Sweetpea, was that my partner never was able to cry when his Dad or Mom died, but when Sweetpea did, he totally lost it.......maybe all had built up.

truly Rainbows Bridge can help. And make sure to say hi to Sweetpea there at his memorial site.

re: Oh man...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Elphaba, I'm crying uncontrolably now. Thank you very much.

Seriously, that was beautiful, if heartwrenching.
