I've just been accepted there.
How's the training? I've heard that it's good for girl's and not so much for boys. is this true? Is the city boring? How well does it integrate singing, acting, and dancing for mt's? I've gotten into the school, i still need to audition for the musical theatre department, how competetive is the audition process? If you're a student there please e-mail or p.m. me. Thanks!

Good for girls and not so for guys??
Who invents this crap? Come on. I have never heard any of the top schools called better for one sex than the other. Training is training.
A lot of the questions you are asking should have been asked before you auditioned. This way, you don't waste the schools or your time.
You were accepted into one the the nation's top MT schools. If you weren't sure before you auditioned, I'm sure there is someone right behind you who would be happy to have your spot.

Posted: 12/11/07 at 7:11pmWell he actually hasn't gotten into the musical theatre department yet, so he's researching before he auditions...which is just what you suggested. Anyway, I've heard OCU is a great school but I couldn't tell you anything more than that about it.

I disagree with you on the dance thing. Plus, I don't know where you're coming from... Yes the vocal training is the strongest aspect of the school. That is undeniably true. It is a BM after all. But, every MT major is required to take at least 13 hours of dance (from the dance department) before they graduate. MT majors take dance from the same instructors as the dance majors do.
I also disagree with the "good for girls, nor for guys" thing. That doesn't even make sense.

Oh my gosh cut it out! What is it with this "good for girl's and not so much for boys" and "They could care less about dance training" crap. OCU has a great program and there dance school is definitely one of the best in the country. The thing is OCU is just one of TONS of great programs out there. It truly depends on what you're looking for in a program. Look at where you are now in your abilities and think about were you want to be. Don't just audition at schools because of what other people say about the program because if you do you'll just end up on Broadwayworld.com asking people about the progam and get a bunch of bias answers that are not true. YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH (because this is your future) and know what you want. If you do this then you can spend your time and energy on auditioning for the programs that fit you the best and not waste your time and money auditioning for programs just because you moms best friends daughter said it's worth looking into.
I'm sorry about my venting there, but I just hate when people put down other programs based on some he said she said crap.

MyWonder...Aren't you the former OCU student who posted her a few weeks ago again complaining about OCU? Maybe you would like to say that in your message.
But your message is full of crap, so it wouldn't matter. OCU has a huge dance requirement for MT majors and their dance classes are taught by the dance professors whop teach the dance majors. That doesn't happen in most MT programs.
I have seen amazing dancers, singers and actors in OCU shows. Nuff said.
And Byorkman, you are so right. The time to start researching a shool is NOT after you have been accepted. Do it before.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 10:40pmthanks jake! I haven't auditioned for the school yet. I just got accepted academically. I would audition fot them early spring. I'm just looking to see what the buzz is BEFORE I audition for them. I've heard of the rep, that's why I applied. Not looking for information that's a make or break decision maker thingy. (excuse my english) just the thoughts that are out there from people that informed and aren't the university trying to get me to buy into the school. Oh, and I didn't say the whole thing about "good for girls, bad for guys." just heard it. But thanks guys for clearing that up for me. Especially, thanks for responding and helping out.
