Posted: 10/23/05 at 5:34pmI did it in 7th grade(6 years ago), I played Oliver, it was a really fun show to do, but not one that I'd want to go see again. I actually just watched it recently tho (well my parts of it anyways) I was really good, lol, normally i can't watch myself in anything, maybe 6 years has given me enough distance to watch it objectively. I was so little, lol.

I did it back in the eigth grade (that was almost 7 years ago now).
I've found that eople tend to miss the boat on what the show really is. My best analogy is this: people tend to look at this show like the Gene Wilder Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when in actually it's more like the recent Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Songs like "Who Will Buy" are actually kind of scary if you look at it in the way Dickens might have. Yes, I know Dickens didn't write the musical, just the original novel. However, Dickens did have a very twisted mind when it came to a lot of his books (he was a twisted guy in general -- hated his wife so much that he built a brick wall between their rooms and refused to see her). I think that a lot of Oliver is portrayed in a lighter aspect than it should be. The show shouldn't only be dark, but a lot of it should be scary.

The knife grinder solo is great. "Who Will Buy" is one of my favorite songs from the show. I could watch it over and over and over again.
Break a leg. Hope you have fun!

if they're doing the show, that means they're doing all the songs.
usually, making cuts from the script is illegal -- this includes songs and scenes.
