Why has there never been a CD of this great movie? Why?
I love the show, the movie, the score, and I crave the soundtrack to the movie. Hello? Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly (and Jules Munshen) doing "New York, New York" and Ann Miller singing "Modern Man" and Betty Garret as Hildy - COME ON!
I love the film songs and music!
There is a combo CD import available (although I think it may be out of print now) with the film soundtracks to both Anchor's Aweigh and On the Town.
Plus some of the individual songs are available on various TCM/Rhino Records compilation releases.

thanks for the link and the info elphaba and best12.
ive got the original bway cd with nancy walker (love it), and the 92 studio recording with tyne daly and the 95 recording with kim criswell - but i REALLY WANT the film soundtrack
love this show too, so sad that the Public and the West End revivals came and went without me getting a chance to see them. Never understood why WONDERFUL TOWN revival had a longer run when this Comden/Green was (for me) a far superior piece in terms of script, score, and dance-ability.
