I am in complete agreement with you hannahshule.
I love 42nd - Una and Ginger.
I own 42nd Street on DVD and crack up every time I see Ginger singing while eating an apple.

ok, so I just finished viewing "Five Star Final", a terrific movie (pre-code, of course!) and guess who I recognized as Ms. Kitty Carbine?
Yes...Ona Munson...and what a skanky little piece of work she was in this movie! It's 1931 and it's really an Edward G Robinson movie (a tabloid newspaper editor who compulsively washes his hands...hmmmm, a sense a bit a subtly there), but your Ona shown through and I immediatley thought of this thread!

Ona Munson was married to the great Eugene Berman - one of the most inventive painters and stage designers of the 20th century. This is his painting of her as "Andromeda" (1943).Thirteen years after they met, Berman and Munson were married at the home of Igor Stravinsky in Hollywood in 1950.
Before Berman, Munson had had affairs with Lubitsch, Nazimova, Mercedes de Acosta, Dietrich and Isadora Duncan.
In 1955, Munson comitted suicide. Her note to her husband (who discovered her body) read: "This is the only way I know to be free again. Please don't follow me."

If the walls of those Hollywood mansions could talk!
Isadora Duncan? She was the original (costume malfunction) Janet Jackson.
