That's a great show! Winifred is a belter but she also is so quirky and funny. Definitely chose a song that shows you can act! There are lots of character songs out there. When my daughter did the show, they all had to do the same song from the musical (Shy)- that makes it so much easier! Anyway, I know I didn't help much but I felt bad that no one was responding! Break a leg! p.s. my daughter has used Gorgeous- from the Apple Tree- Samanthaisfierce on BWW suggested it- it's a great song and it's full of character!

There are character songs from Legally Blonde, there's "Diva's Lament" from Spamalot, "Dirty Doings Going On" from On the Twentieth Century. I've heard "Let's Hear it for the Boy" from Footloose done at an audition and it was a great cuz it's fun and shows range! There are good character songs from Kristin Chenowith- just look her up on youtube. Hopefully this will help. All the others lurking- please jump in with your suggestions!

Try "He Plays the Violin" from 1776 its one of the few soprano songs with guts and some comedy.

You're welcome jenny- always a pleasure to help! Auditioning in the first place is the best experience- whether you get the lead or not. If you do get in the chorus- make the best of it because this will be a large cast and you'll make a lot of friends- plus- you still get to be on stage and get credit on your resume! So- no matter what happens- it's all good- unless the bitchiest girl gets your part- lol!

Okay- I got it! Les Miserables is one of my favorite musicals so first of all- you gotta spell it right!-lol The musical has some of the most recognizable songs of all time so when you put yourself out there- you will be compared. I don't know if you take voice lessons but if you don't- you should. Voice lessons will teach you proper breathing techniques and exercises that will make your voice stronger. Even professional singers take voice!- (just like professional dancers still take class everyday). So- the thing that I think you need to work on the most is pitch! Some of your notes were a little flat. However, I know when people record themselves for youtube- it can be awkward. I would like to hear more confidence. Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing too!

Thanks for the update. Que sera sera- whatever will be will be! As long as you had fun in the process and learned- then you should be happy and chalk this up to experience. Just keep working hard!
