Posted: 8/24/06 at 9:35pmI'm looking for ideas for one act plays. For our spring play this year, we are doing 3, student directed, one-act plays. Any good ideas?

They're great if done together becaue they have a common thread of dealing with language and communication. But you could definitely choose a couple and they would be great on their own. A crowd-pleasing favorite is "Sure Thing." It requires great comedic timing but it's hilarious. I was a student director for that one act and had a BLAST. If you want to know about the ot hers I'd be happy to help :)

I did some David Ives stuff this year as well, we did the collection called 'Lives of the saints.'
Aslo Christopher Durang has some wonderful one acts. 'Naomi in the Living Room, and other short plays' Has some good one's. I did naomi in the living room my junior year, everyone LOVED it!
Jonathan Rand has some good ones.
A good one I dont remember the author of is 'Not Enough Rope'
Hope you find something good.

Bolero - David Ives
Definitely look through a David Ives' book of one acts, and check out Christopher Durang as well.
