Do new Operetta's exist and are they labelled as Musical's in new styles! or are Operettas dead? Just putting it out there x
I think one factor is that the term "operetta" seems boring to the audience of today. So they call it a musical. But on the other hand, the line between the two is somewhat dissolved.

I consider operettas musical comedies with operatic music.

I don't know
I wouldn't consider either The Merry Widow or Die Fledermaus musicals, but they are operettas.
And some call pieces like Les Contes d'Hoffman an operetta, because of it's episodic structure.

Gilbert&Sullivan are considered operettas, although some of the solos are acceptable for "arias" for audition pieces.G&S are great shows to hone your craft for either classical or MT singing.
