O_O
I can't believe that show is about her dog.
I love my dog too, but that's taking it to the extreem.

I missed Oprah (as usual, through judicious avoidance).
What did she confess to? Did she have that creepy "Single older woman and her dog" vibe around her? Was Stedman there? Did he look totally humiliated?
I picture Oprah like that woman in "Serial Mom" who'd rub peanut butter all over her feet and have her dog lick it off.

Two weeks ago, there was this episode trailer about some "big family secret" about her "daughter who has problems" and Oprah feels like it's "all her fault"
it's all about her dog with "low self esteem" (honestly, how can you tell that about your dog?)

Well, in defense of the pooch, animals CAN be depressed, and actually can have pretty similar psychological problems to humans. Being so colloquial as "low self-esteem" is hard to prove, per se, but it could happen.
Though, that's a bit dramatic.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:10pmI know they can be depressed, but I still thnk Oprah was taking it too far...

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:35pmI didn't mind the episode, it was basically just about her socializing and training her dog, but the ads leading up to it were lame.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 8:37pmYEah...that whole dog thing kind of creeps me out. Like, she's comparing the value of humans to the value of dogs...and not in a good way.
re: Oprah has ISSUES.#15
Posted: 5/9/05 at 8:43pmGeez. Next thing you know, she'll be coming online and posting pictures of her dog in a special thread.
re: Oprah has ISSUES.#16
Posted: 5/9/05 at 8:59pmIflit..do you really think any person in their right mind would really post pictures of their dog on a message board? Not anyone who has won a prestigious award would...that's just silly.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 9:29pmI'm always amazed that anyone actually watches that show. No reason, other than I don't believe I've ever seen it. Can't imagine ever watching it.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:21amI LOVE OPRAH. I think part of her appeal to me.. is... that I wish I was she.
re: Oprah has ISSUES.#19
Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:23amYes...but do you wish you were one of those poor dogs of hers?
re: Oprah has ISSUES.#20
Posted: 5/10/05 at 7:04amI was bored out of my mind yesterday when it was on and happened to be flipping chanels and there it was - I didn't find it all that strange - her show can't ALWAYS be about relevant social issues - and besides, dogs have problems to! If her dog is the closest she ever comes to having children, is it such a bad thing that she wants the dog to be healthy and happy? I think not. AND it could help others with the same issues.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 10:15amIsn't Stedman dating Star Jones' hubby?
re: Oprah has ISSUES.#24
Posted: 5/10/05 at 10:21amI almost died laughing yesterday when Star was talking about how if you're emotionally intimate with someone outside of your relationship you're cheating, and Joy said "what if the person you're intimate with is a gay man?"
