Just announced on the View that a study shows that organized anonymous prayers (i.e., pray for my next-door neighbor's cat whom you've never met) do no good. This was studied on 1800 patients.
I wonder how this will affect the boards...
what if we sign our names to the prayers?
dear god,
please don't kill kitty. and if you can, get me the new video ipod.

Sorry, Robb, apparently you have to have a direct connection with the person. And not in an AIM way.
Yes, of course - yahweh.myspace.com
Oy! Can you imagine the retribution if you DIDN'T send him a friend request?
Does this mean that if we all prayed hard that the thread bandit moderator will still strike at will? Terrorizing innocent threads about cold symptoms?
dear god,
why do you hate bwaysinger? he is not a jew.
love, carla
Did it say if it worked on rabbits?
Hmmm ... that is an interesting finding. Who is to say that the prayers didn't work? God does not always answer prayer in the way in which we think they should be answered ...
Maybe that means that bwaysinger's appreciation thread will only be frozen, not actually deleted.
Praise be!
Well, DBP, I'm sure if we pray for someone to get well, and they don't, that to us, that prayer didn't "work." Because we wanted them to get well, see? That was the point of the prayer.
Oh, I get that Rath. My point is that the person doing the praying might need to rethink the word "work" to fit God's definition rather then his or her own.

I swear I read the topic title and thought that it was a 12 step program for out-of-control Virgos.
If you've ever loved a Virgo, you know exactly what I mean. They hang their shirts by how the shade falls in the color spectrum. They alphabetize the groceries on the shelves (just like the family in The Accidental Tourist).
Things have to be just so.
Will it scare you to find out that the thread was started by a Virgo?
