I got the DVD of the original film of CHICAGO and watched it. Good fun, if surprisingly slow moving. There's no Velma at all, and the story centers more on Roxie and Amos, who is played by a surprisingly good looking actor. Amos gets a lot more to do in this version of the story, too.
An interesting DVD, and there are some interesting special features, including information about the actual case that inspired the play in the first place: yes, a woman shot her boyfriend (in the back, it turns out) and her husband intially confessed, and yes she did get away with it in court.
Check it out. Probably on Netflix.
