Trust me, they're too COMPLETELY different ways of looking at it!

Brava. For what it's worth, Sabre, I think you nailed 'em all. I would've picked the same. (Not my favorites, but I believe your guesses are the probable winners.)

Does anyone else feel it was a particularly rich year for acting -- but in otherwise so-so films? (Not the best year for screenwriting.) The best supporting actress category alone shows an incredible range. And that category could've been doubled, with 10 nominees, easily.

In that cateogry, I personally remain loyal to the most moving piece of work on film this past year: Shoreh Aghdashloo in SAND AND FOG. She and Sir Ben are just heartbreaking. But have to admit, Renee gave the memorable performance in MOUNTAIN, stealing the (rather too easily stealable) movie away from Kidman and Law.
