...on his release from incarceration over his homosexuality:
"My desire to live is as intense as ever, and though my heart is broken, hearts are made to be broken: That's why God sends sorrows into the world...To me, suffering seems now a sacremental thing, that makes those whom it touches holy...any materialism in life coursens the soul."
I found this quote in a book today called Dark Nights of the Soul, by Thomas Moore.
Another that I love at the moment, though I don't know the source: "Avoid Malcontents and Pessimists."
Suits me just fine!

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I love that quote. He also said - not while on his deathbed - "All the world's a stage; but the play is badly cast."

"And the postman sighed as he scratched his head, you really rather thought she ought to be dead..."

How can a man who regards success as a goal of life be a true artist?

Only mediocrities progress. An artist revolves in a cycle of masterpieces, the first of which is no less perfect than the last.

...though one can dine in New York, one could not dwell there.

California is an Italy without its art.

and this one for the extremists in the room...

There are three kinds of despots. There is the despot who tyrannizes over the body. There is the despot who tyrannizes over the soul. There is the despot thow tyrannizes over the sould and the body alike. The first is called the Prince. The second is called the Pope. The third is called the People.

Love is merely passion with a holy name.
