Oscars Original Song performances

May I ask, what was with the interpative dances during the performances of the original songs this year? I'm sorry, but that was really weird and awkward to watch.

Plus, I was overall extrememly ashamed of the acadamy for giving it to "It's hard out there for a pimp". Shame Shame Shame. Either of the other two songs were better.

I couldn't believe they re-enacted the scene from Crash where Thandie Newton gets groped by Matt Dillon. It was pretty embarassing to watch.

The CRASH song was just stupid. Every race of person doing interpretive dance. Christ.

Parton was the best.

Yes she was.

But I enjoyed the Hustle and Flow song just because my mother was next to me singing along and trying to be "down." It was hilarious and awkward enough to make it all worth it.

loved how Stewart was like: "For all you keeping score out there: Martin Scoresce: 0. 3 6 degrees (is that was theay are called?): 1" hilarious!

No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

The Crash song was not original. It shouldn't have won.

Three Six Mafia. Why do I know this?

Cruel_Sandwich made that joke before Jon Stewart did. It was in the Oscar Party thread.
Shari Lewis: Did you ever wish upon a star? Lamb Chop: I once asked Mr. Rogers for his autograph.

I just wrote about that on the other thread!! I was sitting there going, "Is the policeman really GROPING her on national television." I can't believe ABC let that slide! lol.

I think the burning car and that whole dance sequence was one of the tackiest parts of the evening.

Dolly Parton was the BEST. And she is the best entertainer ever! She even made Jack Nicholson clap and cheer for the song. Amazing!
Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."
