Our Time

Something is stirring
Shifting ground…
It's just begun
Edges are blurring
All around
And yesterday is done
Feel the flow
Hear what's happening
We're what's happening
Don't you know?
We're the movers and we're the shapers
We're the names in tomorrow's papers
Up to us, man, to show 'em…
It's our time, breathe it in
Worlds to change and worlds to win
Our turn coming through
Me and you, man
Me and you!
Feel how it quivers
On the brink…
What?
Everything!
Gives you the shivers
Makes you think
There's so much stuff to sing!
And you and me
We'll be singing it like the birds
Me with music and you the words
Tell 'em things they don't know!
Up to us, pal, to show 'em…
It's our time, breathe it in
Worlds to change and worlds to win
Our turn, we're what's new
Me and you, pal
Me and you!
Feel the flow
Hear what's happening
We're what's happening!
Long ago
All we had was that funny feeling
Saying someday we'd send 'em reeling
Now it looks like we can!…
Someday just began…
It's our heads on the block
Give us room and start the clock
Our time coming through
Me and you, pal
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Years from now
We'll remember and we'll come back
Buy the rooftop and hang a plaque
This is where we began
Being what we can
It's our heads on the block
Give us room and start the clock
Our dreams coming true
Me and you, pal
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!
Me and you!!!

Posted: 7/25/05 at 3:03amGets me every time. I was privileged to be in the Australian production of MERRILY and it was a very happy experience.

Posted: 7/25/05 at 1:31pmdang it, WILDCAT, i thought "Our Time" would be in NYC, but if i need to go down under for it, so be it. i can add it to my long list of reasons to see Australia and New Zealand..."Taming the Wildcat!"

Posted: 7/25/05 at 8:47pmYou'd better hurry. Remember, the Tasmanian Devil became extinct waiting for offers like that...

The classical chorale I sang with for six years had this in their repertoire for certain occasions. The 4-part choral arrangement is one of the worst arrangements of any song in history.
To this day, just the words "our time" in any context give me the uncontrollable shakes.

Posted: 7/25/05 at 9:08pmI thought you got the shakes when you heard the words "closing time"...

Rath, when you're at a dinner party thrown by Wildcat, have you ever just blurted out, "NO POOL?!? At my rat's nest in New York the john is terminally busted and the kitchen should be condemned, but NO POOL?!? TRASH IT!"?
Just curious...

Posted: 7/25/05 at 9:26pmI don't "blurt." Ever. And I wouldn't be caught dead at one of wildcat's tiresome parties.
#12re: Our Time
Posted: 7/25/05 at 9:34pmDid I say "blurt"? Of course I meant "Exclaim at the top of her lungs while calling all of the attention in the room towards her and waving a martini around in each hand".

Posted: 7/25/05 at 9:39pmAnyway, Rath, I hear your sweet little A-list blue gown is at the cleaners...

Meffie, this is not the way to win me away from my current husband.
And wildcat, lyrical puns are never funny. Okay, sometimes. But not that one.
