Pardon Me

There will be one pardon at the White House this Thanksgiving. It won't be a wrongly imprisoned man of Middle Eastern descent. It won't be a soldier who did his tour of duty and thought he was out and then was called back without choice because we can't get enough soldiers to fight that war over there in Iraq. It won't even be those homos, or those who have had abortions. It will be a turkey. Yes! It is time once again for the annual presidential turkey pardoning.

So, let's all join in congratulating that one lucky, photogenic, bird. He at least gets to leave the White House alive, with his reputation intact. Furthermore, he didn't - or shall I say couldn't - vote for George in the last election so he bears no responsibility for Dubya's prolonged stay at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And, it is unlikely that he is hated by turkeys from other countries because he was born and bred in the good old U. S. of A.

As for the rest of us, we will enjoy our holiday on Thursday. On Friday, we'll be right back in the thick of things, without so much as a "pardon me" from the poor hapless dimwit in the West Wing.

Happy Thanksgiving, Tom. Glad you got a break.

Surely there must be SOME poor, dry and overcooked bird that is winging its way to Iraq for another Presidential Photo Op!
