Patrick Wilson's new film: He's the bad guy...

I was waiting for my car's state inspection and found a copy of the Entertainment Weekly with the Must List.

Patrick's picture is fabulous. He's dressed in black and looking quite handsome. The little blurb below it mentions his "Bright Lights, Big City" CD which comes out in the fall and that his new film, a thriller called "Hard Candy" begins shooting this month.

Word on www.patrickwilson.org is that Patrick is playing a criminal in this film. He's a guy who seduces teens as part of a scam. I'm wondering if this script is based on the Andrew Vachss novel of the same name which is a detective story/thriller? (It's part of a series with an ex-con detective named Burke.)If so, Patrick's character (in the book)runs a "safehouse" for teens which is anything but.

Looks like Patrick is stretching his acting muscles this time and playing a bad guy! Oh my! From Raoul in POTO to this?! :o)

That's exactly what I told beacon before. He just has a sweet, innocent look about him. I'm not so sure I could handle watching him as a bad guy. When beacon told me, we honestly doubted how true this was. hmmmm... should be interesting.

Maybe his innocent look is just what this bad guy uses to fool people. If he's seducing teens he's gotta look sweet/harmless.
Patrick can surely do that...but I think he can handle a dark side well, too.

And then, when this film is done...can he please, please, please, come back to Broadway for a bit?

Dusting off my journalism degree and employing my research training I decided to go on a hunt for info on this new movie "Hard Candy". IMDB and similar sites have nothing.

So, I queried Andrew Vachss' website and they said that the current film, which does have a similarities,is NOT based on Mr. Vachss novel by the same name: "Hard Candy."

So...Patrick is in a thriller,supposedly as a creep who uses the internet to seduce young women...According to a poster on
www.patrickwilson.org the ending is quite shocking so I guess we can assume that TSMrW meets with an appropriately ugly fate. (Hmmm...didn't he play Chance Wayne in "Sweet Bird of Youth" at La Jolla...perhaps that role was a portend...?)

Well this new role is kind of a far cry from playing Curly in Oklahoma!

I think after this he should come back to Broadway for even a limited run and do something light/fun.

Well really though, is Curly in Oklahoma such a nice guy? Not really.


As for Patrick, I think he's fantastic. He's such a sweet guy. I only met him twice but both times he made me feel like a million bucks he was so sweet to talk to.

I really can't stand the character of Curly. I mean, he tries to get Jud to kill himself, and then later on when he does end up dying everyone covers it up for him. Meh.

But, Patrick was excellent in the role.

You can see Patrick as a bad guy??? Have you seen him play a darker roll?

I guess his choirboy good looks will make him all the more menacing? And, I agree he has the talent to pull it off.
