I'm a huge fan of Paul Jabara--his disco stuff (Last Dance, Enough is Enough, The Main Event, It's Raining Men), and always wanted to hear Rachael Lily Rosenbloom and Don't You Ever Forget It. Apparently this track was taken from it (the whole poperetta album is fun). There's finally a good quality version of the video online.

The concept album ended with all of Rio's daughters coming back to save her, which was recorded with Paul Jabara's disco divas (including Donna Summer, who had just recorded his AIDS anthem We're Gonna Win which David Geffen refused to release). But Raquel Welch did a great/ridiculous cover of it

Eric, I know nothing of this song. Why did Geffen refuse to release? Was this before or after the big "This Time I Know It's For Real" comeback and hit filled album?

There was a Paul Jabara album and 12" single of Ocho Rios. It was a pretty big bomb. Ocho Rios is not connected with Lily Rosenbloom tho is it? It was a good 20 years :ater and an entirely different story line (as far as I can tell).

Some of the lyrics (but not the music, as far as I can tell) were re-used from Rachael.

As for We're Gonna Win (and I hope this doesn't bring back the whole Donna Summer/AIDS thread), Geffen thought it would be too polarizing. Which I find infuriating, considering who he was (It's Raining Men was written to be another team up for Donna and Barbra as well, and obviously that never happened, though I suspect neither singer would have done it regardless of label politics). You can listen to an edit of the demo here http://soundcloud.com/otziben/donna-summer-were-gonna-win-q

Beautiful song. Thanks, Eric. BTW, do you own Paul Jabara & Friends, with a nineteen year old Whitney.

Yes! Eternal Love is an amazing song, I think--prob Jabara's best ballad. Apparently Donna did a demo--I have no idea why Whitney's wasn't released as a single.

Eric I wasn't trying to insult you or anything of the sort but Ocho Rios is not based on Raachel Lily Rosenbloom. I've never heard RLB so I have no idea if some lyrics are re-used but I can't imagine how any of those Ocho Rios lyrics could fit into that story.
