I am thrilled to be in San Diego for the world premiere of my play as a cross cultural UK exchange project for San Diego International Fringe Festival #sdff14 @sdfringe.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Edith Sitwell and the 52nd of Marilyn Monroe. This comic drama celebrates the real women behind their larger than life public facades and their battle with fame and artistic integrity.

Hollywood 1953. Movie director, George Cukor summons the eccentric English poet, Dr. Edith Sitwell, to adapt her book about Anne Boleyn into a Columbia blockbuster to star Vivien Leigh.

Cukor films a publicity meeting between the ageing poet and rising young film star, Marilyn Monroe, who yearns for a break out role to counter the dumb blonde parts for which she is famously typecast.

Sitwell struggles with Cukor and his collaborator, who continues to dumb down her script. Impressed with Monroe and her plight, she hatches a plan to make her the star of her screenplay instead.

As three larger than life ego’s battle for supremacy, how will the Studio choose between them?
