What are some things you thought everyone knew about but were shocked when you met someone who had no clue?
A few of Mine:
I know somoene who'd never heard of Gloria Estefan.

I know a lot of people that don't know the glory of Hayoa Myazaki, or however you spell his name.
Someone I knew thought that Broadway in NYC was the only street in the world named Broadway. The ironic thing was he said that as we were driving down a street named Broadway.
Hehe good one. I'm also surprised how many people on Leno's street segement don't recognize the Us President.
KelRel, that's what I thought too! But apparently, there are others! Imagine that!
Anyway...I know SEVERAL people who have never even HEARD of Saturday Night Live.
Oh my? Are you serious? My dad had never heard of Kathleen Turner or any of her movies.
I knew a girl once who had no idea who Julie Harris or Vanessa Redgrave were. And this was on a THEATRE BOARD!!!
Oh lord. Some people are very proud of their ignorance.
I worked at a box office once and had to explain to a woman what theatre was. She was like "So it's real people up there? Like a movie?"
I thought everyone knew that Glenn Close should never open her mouth to sing, yet a lot of people don't seem to know that.

"So it's real people up there? Like a movie?"
That shouldn't have made me laugh, but it did.
When the MGM openned in Vegas, they had a huge display commemorating THE WIZARD OF OZ. We walked through with someone who didn't get any of it - nothing. "Why the yellow bricks?"
I heard MANY people thought the musical "Titanic" starred Leonardo DiCaprio.
I find it rather amazing that people are amazed that no one has ever heard of Adam Sandler, Gloria Estefan or Kathleen Turner. I'll bet you they would be surprised to learn you have never heard of Jonas Salk or Al Unser.
The thing is everyone knows a lot about something. Not everyone knows a lot about everything.
At the grocery store last night I heard some girls talking in the cheese aisle, and I kid you not, she said:
"This cheese is aged? Ewww why would I want old cheese? I can't believe they sell old cheese here."
I know someone who doesn't know what Wicked is and doesn't know who Idina is.
Imagine that.
Hehe. I met someone who hadn't heard all 5000 bootlegs of Wicked. What morons.
What's Wicked? Like, you mean somebody who's mean?

I think it's a musical about New England, CM2.
My brother had no idea that Michael Jackson used to be black.
I do surveys at my job and have had to explain to people what health insurance, workers unions, and civilian jobs are.
And I imagine none of them have heard of Wicked either.
"I think it's a musical about New England, CM2. "
that made me laugh because i say "wicked" all the time.
People not knowing of Wicked?! But it..it..it is teh GOD.
One of my friends didn't know who Hilary Duff was. And he didn't know what lip gloss was.
I think there were a few guys who didn't know Jenna McCarthy was. And these were...testosterone-driven..big...stereotypical jock men.
Hee hee. That Wicked thing made me laugh...::rushes over to her FAQ::
