Well, like a couple of you I've seen on this board, my school is doing Phantom of the Opera this fall. I'd like to audition but I am having trouble finding any uptempo song that is "in the style of" Phantom. I am a mezzo soprano who sings alto in chorus... any suggestions???

Definately Gilbert and Sullivan.
Katisha sings a solo in the mikado which would be suitable for an alto singer...
look at the supporting female roles for the lower songs, i'm sure there is one that is good in HMS Pinifore (does Little Buttercup have a good song?)
Otherwise i'm sure princess ida will have something good, as will pirates of penzance, and maybe Ruddigore (if you go for the heroine part - her stuff isn't too high)
Get yourself to a library and have a listen to some G+S :)
sorry my thinking isn't very specific, but good luck x

If you're going for Madame Giry, sing "When Frederic was a Little Lad" from "The Pirates of Penzance".
