Pigs and Christmas

So I was in World Market last night and they had the beginnings of their Christmas stock out (I know, I know. Don't even get me started. Whatever happened to Halloween & Thanksgiving?) and I couldn't help but notice that there are several pig items out. I saw a few different types of pig ornaments and marzipan pigs and couldn't help but wonder what the deal was. What's the link between pigs and Christmas?

uh katy......they do animals all of the time as ornaments.
And marzipan pigs have been out for years.....don't get out much?

I've seen peppermint pigs in catalogs. They're sold with a little hammer to break them and thus share the candy with others.
