Please don't call me Mrs..........

I have noticed lately that many people refer to me as Mrs. so and so. I am a single woman and don't believe that should be used unless people know that one is actually married. I finally asked one of the staff in my doctor's office why they do that. The staff person replied, " We call every woman your age Mrs. You are married........right?"

"Friends are the people you chose as family."....Me.

Aww, poor Yenta. But your cat, Mr Jinks, calls you his wife, doesn't he?

I have a habit of calling every woman ma'am. Sometimes, if I think about it, I'll say miss.

I'll call you Miss Yenta from now on, okay?

I think she prefers Ms.

What's the difference between Ms and Miss?
I don't use periods after abbreviations.

Mrs. refers to a woman who's married and Miss refers to a woman who's unmarried. Ms. doesn't bear any reference to the woman's marital status.

I like the term Ms., which I use now and when I was married. I just don't think that a woman needs to be defined by her marital status. But some peopole think that a woman my age is automatically married. My age is 49 .
