I know there was a similar thread a couple of months ago, but since then I've seen a lot of avatars which show faces I don't recognize and which seem like they might be pictures of the poster him/herself. Mine is one of my headshots (though one poster wrote that it looked just like John Fogerty!). Anyway, if it's you in your avatar, please raise your hand by responding to this thread. On a non-public board in an ideal world, in a closed community where entry into that communitiy came with a ceritifcate of mental stability, this entire "show me your avatar" and lack of anonymity might, might not be a bad thing.

But on a board with so many young people, on a board where so many of these young have exhibited a lack of judgment with their personal information, on a board where some of the older posters make the hair on the back of my neck bristle, on a board where too many youngsters have stardust in their eyes and are susceptible to the compliments and kindness of these strangers, on a board where so many youngsters have their photos already posted somewhere, whew...this idea for people to display themselves creeps me out. But maybe that's just me.

it's all relative. Predators would more likely be on other boards/chat rooms where it's easier to meet minors. For the most part, we're harmless. But you never know...
