Thank god. Hopefully the trend continues:

Now that the dye is coming out of Palin's powder blue cashmere shorty and people are slowly becoming aware of how clueless McCain is, I only expect he'll go up, up, and awaaaaay...

I share the hope, but let's not get complacent. We cannot underestimate the stupidity of the American voter, the evil of the Republican Party, and the spinelessness of the Democrats.
It ain't over until inauguration day. And then it will be only beginning.
True, dat.
trust me, i'm far from complacent... i'm just glad the tides have turned. slightly. lets hope it continues.

Before any of the resident righties can claim hypocrisy, let me reassert that the only poll that matters is the one people vote at November 4th.
It was only a matter of time. Palin's nomination was a surprise and a real "Oh wow!" moment. Much like getting a puppy for Christmas. At first it's all love and then a few days later after the novelty wears off and it starts pooping in the house and chewing on the shoes you start waking up to the fact that it is not all what it appeared to be.
American's are reaching the "Wait, what?" stage of McCain's choice.
And McCain has imploded this week, flopping all over the place to explain the economy. Even the GOP is noting his 180's -- can you imagine if a Democrat bounced back and forth between deregulation and regulation? And screamed about "Greed!" He sounds hysterical and then just surly -- there's a sort of bipolar thing at work. According to Huffpost, there's much whispering about how he's coping.
I've said for two weeks -- watch how much he resents the Palin attention, rather than appreciates it. I have this strong feeling he doesn't remotely like this woman, and now they are joined at the hip.
It's not a shotgun wedding -- it's a blind date at a Vegas wedding chapel.
As I posted in a thread early this morning--
McCain Seen as Less Likely to Bring Change, Poll Finds

Since we're all "poll crazy" on this board, here's the latest from the New York Times/CBS News. It was taken right after Ms. Palin's interview with Charlie Gibson.
It starts like this, but gets better and better. Be sure to check out the link.

McCain Seen as Less Likely to Bring Change, Poll Finds
By ROBIN TONER and ADAM NAGOURNEY
WASHINGTON — Despite an intense effort to distance himself from the way his party has done business in Washington, Senator John McCain is seen by voters as far less likely to bring change to Washington than Senator Barack Obama. He is widely viewed as a “typical Republican” who would continue or expand President Bush’s policies, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
Polls taken after the Republican convention suggested that Mr. McCain had enjoyed a surge of support — particularly among white women after his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate — but the latest poll indicates “the Palin effect” was, at least so far, a limited burst of interest. The contest appeared to be roughly where it was before the two conventions and before the vice-presidential selections: Mr. Obama had the support of 48 percent of registered voters, compared with 43 percent for Mr. McCain, a difference within the poll’s margin of sampling error, and statistically unchanged from the tally in the last New York Times/CBS News poll, in mid-August.

"McCain Slowly Sinking"
If only there was an ice floe we could put him on. Alas, they're disappearing too.
McCain's got a shotgun aimed directly at his foot, and firing both barrels! Both candidates are coming off like complete idiots over this economy business, but McCain wins as most idiotic.

I missed Cynthia McKinney's press conference- what's her plan for the economy?

" Much like getting a puppy for Christmas...."
Awe, come on ... That's not a good analogy. Puppies can ultimately be so much more rewarding after the "pooping in the house" stage. Just wait, if Palin ever gets the chance to "poop in the House" (or on the House) it will be a much harder mess to clean up. ; -)
Should have said "much like getting a rabid puppy for Christmas" XD
fivethirtyeight.com has an interesting analysis of the cell phone issue in polling...
"Six of the eight cellphone-friendly pollsters have had a Democratic (Obama) lean, and in several cases it has been substantial. On average, they had a house effect of Obama +2.3. By comparison, the control group had a house effect of Obama +0.1 (**), so this would imply that including a cellphone sample improves Obama's numbers by 2.2 points. (Or, framed more properly, failing to include cellphones hurts Obama's numbers by approximately 2 points)."
While you're on their page, don't forget to notice the electoral college map.

Point taken Krissy. "A rabid puppy with lipstick!"
Yep, Bammy has it all won.
Y'all just keep thinking that, and on election day...
SURPRISE, Reagan/Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin win again!!
Just like herpes.
With a MUCH more pleasant ending.
But, you sound as if you speak from experience, A LOT of experience.
The last polling date for "The Poll Of Polls" was the 16th. Just a day after the Market mess. I'm sure his numbers will be even higher next time. Gallup has it at 50/44.

I've been getting about three phone calls a day from pollsters regarding the presidential candidates, and it's only late September.
Real Clear Politics has Obama +2.3% in the poll of polls.
I think it's Obama for sure. How could he lose?
CNN Poll of Polls today:
Obama - 49% McCain - 44%
up up up... lets hope it keeps climbing
