I understand your feelings nystate, and I agree with Ruffian - he IS a fine actor and I'm very sorry he turned down Billy Flynn for the CHICAGO film in favor of the unwatchably earnest THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE.
I actually think that if he came out it would probably give his career a boost.
In the theatre i think the whole issue is a non starter.
BUT...
In film if the producers don't think u can sell a film w a"gay" romantic lead opposite a hetero : u ain't gonna git a job & the $$$.
Oh yes and the fame.
Any one who read "With Nails" The film diaries of Richard E Grant should remember the part when Spacey bitches about other actors not as good as hisself being more successful/famous.( Henry & June)
