Ok, first of all, I know how some people here get annoyed by these posts, and never thought I'd post one, BUT... I really would like some feedback...
I posted on the main board, but only got one helpful reply... so, I figured I'd try here...
For an audition this weekend, they requested I prepare 16 bars of a pop song. Mind you, this is a dancers-call; they've already heard me sort'a butcher "Purpose" and "Try to Remember" at the generals; singing is not my strong point, and I'm quite sure that I'm being called for my dance background. That said, I would like to not make an @ss out of myself.
The thing is, I don't really listen to pop. Never have... I'm an alternative music guy. It was suggested I sing Give it To You by Jordan Knight... sounds interesting.
Anyone have any other suggestions? What kind of pop is appropriate for an audition like this? A friend suggested maybe doing a swing tune... would that be considered pop? It's for an 80's Lloyd Webber show... should I stick to 80's pop? Would a song from a contemporary 'poppy' musical be ok?
Thanks...

If i had to sing a pop song i personally would choose something like Leave Right Now by Will Young. Whams Jitterbug would be really good and you could boogie about to it!

Posted: 6/2/05 at 9:27pmI cringe when I hear Jessica Simpson sing it. Angels is one of my all time favorite songs. It is so beautiful. I think that should have been RW's first release here in the states instead of Millennium.

My favorite Robbie Williams song is his cover of "Mr. Bojangles," though I have been known to blast his poppier music from my car loudly on summer days. "Kids," "Rock DJ," and "Let me Entertain you" are awesome songs - and for some reason I love the live audio recording I have of him singing "Wonderwall" by Oasis. He gets the crowd to sing for him at one point, and its luscious.
OK, i'm done. Always excited when Robbie Williams is a topic.
