Saw a snippet on GMA this morning. Apparantly the 47 year old prince/playboy has a 2 year old son with a stewardess from the island of Togo. AND, per his admission, there are additional pending paternity suits from other women (he did not say how many...just other claims will be made).

Maybe he doesn't know where babies come from??

And I thought he'd be the first openly gay King.

Glebb, that already happened long ago in France.......one of the Louis's........

also, as I recall there was one of the Edwards in England, the 13th?........so openly gay that his wife and her lover had him murder

and then there was Frederick the Great, whose father, I believe mad him watch his lovers execution.......

and there are many more....

Open to the public, to the media, the world.
Not just known to history.

It was Edward II, who was the subject of an amazing play by Marlowe.

The interesting thing is- unless Alb produces a legal male heir- the principality returns to France with all that lovely casino $$$$!

Glebb, what media would that be in ancient France? The peasents had no knowledge of heterosexual kings then, or their courts.....there was the royal court, the church, the military and the peasents....and no one would say anything publicly against the King, whether it was that he was gay, or that he made a bad wartime decision

you cannot compare being out and gay during the times of any of the three kings I've mentioned with today, as it was NOT the same thing, no mass media, a very different time

Had anyone written anything in the newspaper about Frederick the Great, they would have been imprisoned at the very least. All three of those monarchs were out and gay.........but people knew to keep their mouths shut.

sabre, they've already changed the law........it would then revert to one of his sisters sons......one or both have sons I think

So when he goes to the bathroom, do they say he's "in a can"?

Then, let him out!

Glebb, I am not going to argue with you....at that time in history, they all were considered "openly gay"

you cannot use 21st century ideas of "openly gay" to say these three monarchs were not........you must use the ideas at their time in history

I am a bit surprised that Albert is not a "confirmed bachelor" in 1950's parlance...

So...I could conceivably become Princess Beacon of Monaco?

Wow...the possibilities...

Glebb,

Please do not PM me again, I will not argue with you.
I only PM friends, which is why I am posting this here.
Perhaps you need to realize there are different ways to interpret history.

So, I hear Albert is now King...

Which one of his bastards will take the throne after him?

They dinked around with the Constitution when it became clear Albert wasn't going to marry anytime soon. His sister Caroline is next in line and then her eldest son.

Unless Albert marries me and then our child would rule.

beacon, it's Caroline's son next in line...as far as I know Monaco will still not allow a female ruler........but will allow sons of female siblings to rule.

see below from Susan Browns website:

Princess Caroline's eldest son will soon be giving William a run for sexiest Prince. The 15-year-old Andrea Casiraghi may well be the next heir to Monaco's throne, if Prince Albert doesn't marry and produce (legitimate) offspring. Contrary to popular belief, the lineage of Monaco is not required to be in an unbroken line. Children of sisters to the Crown Prince certainly CAN inherit; and Andrea may well do so.

Albert has said he'd like to marry "someday" but he does not want to make a "mistake" And a child may be 2 or 3 more out of wedlock with different women is not a mistake?
