There is much disagreement- After this New York MAgazine story ran, Jay McCarroll gave interview bragging about his complete and utter lack of success, but his publicist says while he's certainly not setting the fashion world on fire, he does at least have an apartment.

Meanwhile, Wendy Pepper domonstrates that designers who actually design clothes human beings would like to wear get work. She's home in Suburban DC and her one-woman couture shop is growing by leaps and bounds.

Of course, Jay's lack of talent is only eclipsed by his lack of manners. I love this line from the article's author: "His first voice-mail message to me, ever: Hey Jen, this is Jay McCarroll … Um, I am free tonight and all day tomorrow to do this bull****. F*CKing call me, would you?" THAT is how you cultivate a great relationship with the press!

I can't think of any reality show besides American idol where the winners actually achieve substantial success.
