Does anyone have any knowledge about what a typical arrangement would be between a promoter and the "act"? This is not within the entertainment industry, but business speakers. I tried to do some research to see if there was any kind of industry standard. The promoter incurs the costs of staging the event, including finding the audience who pay to attend, and the expenses of the speaker. The speaker shows up and does the dog and pony show, and prepares content of the engagement.
I found one quote, not sure if it is standard. The promoter takes 70% of box office. Does that sound right?
Also, would it be 70% of box office AFTER expenses? Any thoughts or experience on the matter appreciated.
p.s. Thanks in advance, and also thank you to those of you who responded on the other thread a couple of weeks ago. I am still gutted, but life marches on.
