Question Regarding Music Heard at the Academy Awards
Question Regarding Music Heard at the Academy Awards#1

This may be kind of a stretch but does anyone remember the music they played during the "Best Picture" homage during the Academy Awards ceremony? My boyfriend wants to know if it was from a movie or where it was from, and how he could get a hold of it.
I was hoping someone on here would know. Thanks.

Posted: 2/25/08 at 2:43amI was actually wondering the same thing. I've heard it used in trailers before, I'm fairly certain, but that never means it was from a certain movie. Plus I can't think of what trailers, off the top of my head...

Posted: 2/25/08 at 2:44amThe music played during the best pic montage was a piece called "To The Stars" from the soundtrack to Dragonheart.

EVERYONE at the Oscars party I was at was wondering the same thing, and I received three texts from people asking me if I knew what it was.
And I still don't know.
ETA: Thanks, tazber.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

De nada.
It's a popular score, but not too many people know where it's from or who wrote it (Randy Edelman). It's been used in many a movie trailer, i.e. SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET:

on a completely tangental note, I liked 7 Years In Tibet.
It was roundly trashed by critics and audiences, but I was very moved by it.
re: Question Regarding Music Heard at the Academy Awards#8
Posted: 2/25/08 at 4:07amI think a lot of that had to do with the subject matter. Heinrich Harrer had ties to the Nazi party and here was this movie more or less "glamorizing" him, especially with Brad Pitt in the role. That's why that Leni Riefenstahl bio-pic that's been a work in progress for many years (Jodie Foster was slated to star at one point) will most likely never get made.
