Question about SUNY and FIT

Now, I realize that a fashion school, for the most part at least, is not anyone's cup of tea on this board, but I was curious after hearing from numerous people how great FIT is and etc, etc, what native New Yorkers tend to think of it.

I guess what I am really asking is there are certain stereotypes for NYU/Columbia/etc, so what about FIT?

And as for SUNY schools in general, are these schools community colleges that allow all New Yorkers in or what?

SUNY schools are universities and colleges. I'm sure there are community colleges in the system too.

My brother went to SUNY Albany (we live in CT) and I'm applying to SUNY New Paltz.

i go to SUNY new paltz and it rocks!!, pm me fo details, it is and "art" school (the stage manager from aida went here and before the show closed he brought the cast Cheyenne! up for a special concert on campus), but for acting i think suny purchase is better
