Question about having a vibratto
#0Question about having a vibratto
Posted: 6/28/05 at 4:12pmHi, my best friend went for a vocal evaluation the other day and she was told that she had a vibratto in her voice. i know what that is, but I am curious, is it something bad or something to get rid off? I am kind of curious because I really don't know and neither does she, and she says the still want to work with her but when she asked about it they said it didn't matter, she didn't have to worry. Any thoughts? thanks in advance!!! :)

Posted: 6/28/05 at 4:23pmVery few singers sing ONLY straight tone 100% of the time. Nearly all employ vibrato to one extent or another. It's generally a good thing as long as it's properly produced and well-controlled.

Vibrato is something that can come very naturally to some, others mistakenly push too hard for it. If your friend is looking to do musical theatre, then vibrato is the preferred "legit" sound.
There can be all kinds of vibrato problems- shaky, scratchy, etc. With proper training and diligence, it can usually be repaired. Most likely, her issues come from weakened muscles, or the way air passes through her vocal folds. Doesn't sound like she has anything to worry about.
