#0Question about plagarism
Posted: 4/19/05 at 12:05pmI know you can't copywrite ideas, but what about inticing incidents? I'm currently writing a short story (or whatever it ends up being) about a man who commits suicide and then when he dies, he's ressurected into someone else's life. I can't stay online long, but PM me your thoughts, if you have any. Thanks.

Posted: 4/19/05 at 1:21pmthere are a lot of movies and stories already with a similar idea, and no one accuses them of plagiarism. You'd have to lift details pretty blatantly for that.

Posted: 4/19/05 at 1:50pmI think you'll be just fine......many stories, movies, ect. use similar themes, so go for it!

You can only copyright your specific story and events. You can't copyright a general idea or plot.
And that idea's been done a zillion times so I think you're fine regardless.

Posted: 4/19/05 at 2:41pmThere's plenty of room for originality. All sorts of room. Everything *original* you add to a concept is yours and protected. But the basic concept is just that, BASIC, and many people have worked from that same basis.
