Question about plagarism

Question about plagarism

#0Question about plagarism

I know you can't copywrite ideas, but what about inticing incidents? I'm currently writing a short story (or whatever it ends up being) about a man who commits suicide and then when he dies, he's ressurected into someone else's life. I can't stay online long, but PM me your thoughts, if you have any. Thanks.

there are a lot of movies and stories already with a similar idea, and no one accuses them of plagiarism. You'd have to lift details pretty blatantly for that.

I think you'll be just fine......many stories, movies, ect. use similar themes, so go for it!

You can only copyright your specific story and events. You can't copyright a general idea or plot.

And that idea's been done a zillion times so I think you're fine regardless.

That's what I'm worried about. Gah... There's no room for originality anymore.

nothing new under the sun, but some shadows loom larger than others.

There's plenty of room for originality. All sorts of room. Everything *original* you add to a concept is yours and protected. But the basic concept is just that, BASIC, and many people have worked from that same basis.
