I am doing a project for school and I was hoping I could ask a few questions. I am a senior in high school and we have to do a final project of our choice. I am doing mine on theatre and why,in a why it is so contagious. What makes it so special? And what makes a good performer? I am also hoping to ask people in theatre why you are so attracted to theatre, and what makes it so special to you. I was wondering if anyone who has worked in proffesional theatre could please answer some of these questions. Thanks so much!!!

Should you be starting with the assumption that it's contagious, since some would argue not them, or that it's special, because again some would argue not to them? More than a tad subjective, no?

The only problem with that is you can't show the positive without the negative. If you want a really good paper, you have to show the opposing viewpoint, at least a little bit. ESPECIALLY in a research paper or an opinion paper.

I'm an English major--you can trust me on that one :)

well, there is a continuous debate between my friends which form of acting (live theatre or film) shows more emotion.

I argue that (naturally) theatre is better as often you can feel the energy in the room when something is going on. The emotions the person projects on stage is so much more real than on film because when seeing it live you are literally living the moment.

At the same time, my friends argue that film captures emotion better because of close-ups and what not. You can use camera angles and more realistic sets to capture the moment.

I don't know if this helps, but it definitely shows a pro/con about the emotion in live theatre.
