Maybe I'm just very tired, but I need to do a system restore and can't figure out how to do it (Not very computer literate here) Can someone tell me how to do it?
matty, did someone help you yet?

At the start menu go into all programs, then click on "pc help and tools." Click system restore and follow the instructions. I've had to do this several times and it's easy. Good Luck!
All fixed. Thanks, everyone.
Now can you come fix mine? I need help...

Addie - it sounds like you need to run some Adware filters for the Spyware stuff
That, and I need to figure out why my internet connection is so screwed up (for lack of a better technical term...).
Know anyone who makes house calls??

Seriously, my brother is a computer technician - and if I asked him to, he'd give you a call and walk you through some steps. And he might come out east over the holidays, so you could buy him a drink if he makes it into the city.
Addie, that was what was happening with mine. I ran my adaware but there was nothing there so I don't know what was wrong with it. But a nice system restore fixed it all and now I'm happy like a little girl frolecking in the meadow picking daisies.

So was that little girl when Frankenstein's monster showed up.
DG - I may just take you up on that. Drinks on the house!
Matt - if I fix my computer I'll be a happy little girl with daisies? Who knew you had the secret to the fountain of youth...
We're all happy little girls with daisies at heart. Right, Rodney?

Psst...Spybot Search & Destroy finds things that Ad-Aware doesn't, and vice versa. They work very nicely, if not absolutely completely, together.
ONCE AGAIN, Plum is ABSOLUTELY correct.
My advice is to run Ad-aware and Sybot ONCE A WEEK.
Also, please download for latest updates for both packages on a weekly basis.
It's a lot easier and safer than to scan for spyware on a regular basis than to do a System Restore.
Also, if your system is running slow, its a great idea to delete your Temporary Internet Files, and then perform a Scandisk and a Defrag. This ALONE may whip the performance of your PC back into shape.
System Restores CAN fix certain problems, but there is the potential to lose data and programs created AFTER the restore point.
So, a Restore should be your LAST option.
Another good technique is to do a "selective re-install" of Windows if you have your orginal Windows CD. The re-install will replace Windows System files that are missing or corrupted.
I work as a Systems Analyst and if anyone would care to fly me to NYC and buy me a ticket to any Broadway show besides WICKED, I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to give a consultation on anyone's PC issues. :)
