Spider - that was SIXTEEN CANDLES, when she played the organist for the wedding to the 'oily bohunk'.
And in response to this sad news, I will quote Zelda from that flick, "Oh, I need a drink!"
RIP, good woman. Your help and kindness will not be forgotten.

She was in an early HIV prevention poster specifically targeting gay men at a time when no mainstream actors would go near the topic, including Elizabeth Taylor.
I always loved her for that.

Zelda was in one of my favorite bad movies of all time, UNDER THE RAINBOW. I have always been fascinated with her.Zelda was a real advocate for gay and lesbian causes. She will be missed.

This makes me smile, although if two organs have failed I'm not sure how she can recover. Still,as long as she is not in pain and her friends are optimistic than I'm happy for now!
Some hopeful news? Maybe, she is "not near death."
POLTERGEIST - POLTERGEIST STAR NOT NEAR DEATH
Friends of POLTERGEIST star ZELDA RUBINSTEIN have dismissed reports the actress is close to death after a month-long health battle, insisting she's well on the way to recovery.
Internet reports have suggested the 76 year old, who played creepy spirit talker Tangina in the cult 1982 film, had been taken off a life support machine after spending December (09) at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The actress was admitted when two of her major organs failed.
But sources insist things aren't as bleak as reports suggest.
A friend tells MovieHole.net, "She's OK. Vitals are good. She's apparently doing better. Internet sources exaggerated the story."
