i also disagree with jon peters and lesley ann warren...they were very much in love and at the time were very happy together until he humiliated her by carrying on with barbra streisand...
oh and tony curtis has gone on record and said that he never made that remark about marilyn...it was completely fabricated.

Shirley and Marty! Yes! Totally agree.
What exactly does she see in him? I remember seeing an interview with her (and also him possibly) and she said how she loves how he makes her laugh.
I have their biography in paperback. It's a good and very interesting read. It's called "Shirley and Marty - an unusual love story" (or something like that)

Posted: 12/22/04 at 9:22amDays, I remember seeing them on some talk show a few years ago, and he was being his usual revolting self (thinking he's hilarious, of course) and she was MORTIFIED. She couldn't hide it. Her face...omg. It was awful.

Posted: 12/22/04 at 2:16pmI actually think Sarah Jessica Prker and Matthew Broderick are a cute couple. As for another mis-matched couple, Lindsey Lohan and that wilmer guy from that 70's show.

I wonder if that was around the time they seperated? I'm guessing he just got to be too much for her, and I know I've heard all 3 of her sons DO NOT like him at all.
If I had to pick the #1 mis-matched couple, it would be them.
Shirley = sweet, classy
Marty = obnoxious and weird

Posted: 12/22/04 at 3:51pmDays, it's true her sons do not like Marty at all. I have known a few women like her - women with fortune and power - who sublimate themselves to useless men - unfathomable relationships to most of us on the outside looking in. I believe that our culture teaches us that men have the power and the glory, and when women end up with it, a lot of the time they feel they don't deserve it or shouldn't have it, and this is what they feel (subconsciously) is their penance.
