RIP Maestro Julius Rudel

I am so sorry to hear this news. He was an amazing conductor but more important a very giving human being. I was very fortunate to have worked with Maestro Rudel several times on many productions. He was one of the smartest men I have ever spoken to about music. It must have broken his heart to watch as his beloved NYC Opera was torn apart.

He was a true gentleman and he will be missed.

This is a good reminder to look for a CD of one my favorite old LPs: "Welcome to Vienna," with Beverly Sills and Rudel conducting (I think) the London Phil.

Farewell to a NYC legend.
