Tura Satana died Friday, February 4 2011, in Reno, Nevada. The star of the great mad camp epic FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! gives one of the great badass movie performances as Varla, the leader of a trio of strippers who drive hotcars and kick ass. Only Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West surpasses Satana's Varla for sheer merry malignity.

An essential American masterwork. Satana will live forever in the mind of anyone who sees her.

The world is a smaller and sadder place henceforward. I'm seriously bummed.
