Random Injury Question
#1Random Injury Question
Posted: 5/25/09 at 5:11pmLast night I randomly started getting a gruesome pain in my upper left back/shoulder. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep or I wasn't comfortable any way I was laying down. I also had trouble breathing through my left chest. I have no idea where this is from. I am a dancer, and we were doing hinges to the ground two days ago, but I don't think that is what it is from. I haven't really had anytime this weekend to go to a doctor since it is Memorial day weekend. I was wondering if there is anything I could do to maybe make it feel less painful. I tried stretching, advil, and icing...and it is not helping that much. Any nurses or doctors on these boards that could help me? Thanks.

Posted: 5/25/09 at 6:52pmHave you had a cough? Last year I had a very violent cough and ended up pulling a muscle. It hurt to breath, laugh, cough, and sneeze. I couldn't even lift my arm past my shoulder. I tried to wear those sticky heating pads but the pain was in a spot that wasn't quite flat enough for one to stay on.

Trust me...
Acupuncture.
I had almost the same thing, it was a pulled muscle, and they put me through all sorts of PT that caused more pain.
Acupuncture cleared it right up.

It sounds as if it could be a muscle strain, but if you other symptoms you need to rule out more serious lung problems,

Posted: 5/25/09 at 8:31pmI ditto the acupuncture. I've never had it myself (never really needed it) but I know many people who have and they RAVE about it.

It really is like some sort of voodoo magic.
I love that you just point to the pain, and they know what to do. I lay there for an hour and, poof, the pain is gone.
I literally said, "I'm gonna cut my arm off" the pain was SO BAD, and they had me on pills and I was so messed up. They had no idea what the problem was, but once those needles were in me, it felt like I delflated and all of the pain was gone.
