This is a screencap from the Indianapolis Star main page. I doubt it is even close to truly representative, but I still find it disturbing. I know most of you will probably say "What do you expect? It's Indiana!", but ugh!
The poll was based on this story. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008804160447

All I know is, if anyone ever slaps me, we're throwing down, I don't care who it is.
Teachers shouldn't have the right to paddle students at all. I don't know how many times I got spanked by a teacher, but it didn't help.
I think only a parent should have the right to punish kids with a spanking.
Send the kid home if he's acting up.

Posted: 4/21/08 at 9:28amAs a teacher I am against corporal punishment, mostly because we are supposed to be examples to the kids, including how we solve our problems. If we solve a problem of someone bothering us but hitting them, then all we're doing is teaching the student that its ok to hit somebody if they bother you.

Teachers should never slap students. Always use a closed-fisted punch.

If teacher's slap, aren't they teaching students that violence works to solve problems?
