Ready? OK! at Newfest NYC GLBT Film Fest

Hey all,
I wanted to let you know my new movie, Ready? Ok!, is playing Newfest, the NYC gay and lesbian film festival on June 7th and June 8th. It stars Broadway and TV vets Carrie Preston (Tempest w/ Patrick Stewart, Rivals at Lincoln Center & "Transamerica", "Straight Jacket"), Michael Emerson (Iceman Cometh w/ Kevin Spacey, Gross Indecencies, 3 Trial of Oscar Wilde & "SAW", Ben Linus on ABC's "Lost"), and Lurie Poston (original cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), just to name a few.

A stressed out single mom must juggle work, her directionless and recently returned twin brother, and especially her precocious, and likely gay, nine-year-old son, whose obsession with dresses, dolls, and cheerleading is leading to problems at his Catholic school. Ready? OK! is one of the wonderful delights of this year’s festival. Writer/director James Vasquez (2005’s 29th and Gay)’s indelible characters are lovingly made real through standout performances from Carrie Preston and Lurie Poston, and with a fantastic supporting turn from Michael Emerson (“Ben” from TV’s Lost).

This film marks my feature film directorial debut. I'm really proud of it. We won Best Feature, Best Actress, and Outstanding Emerging Talent at Film Out San Diego.
