Recharging battery for Nikon Coolpix P500

I tried to charge my extra Nikon EN-EL5 lithium battery for my upcoming trip. I must have let the battery sit too long without recharging, because I can't get it to charge The camera just constantly blinks without reaching full charge. I know it is not my charger because my other battery which I used in December charged up. I bought a new battery today (for way too much) but I needed a backup battery for pictures. Anybody have this problem and can offer any tips? The battery probably sat for about 10 months without a charge. Thanks.

sometimes it's just a lemon. I always buy xtras for cheap on AMAZON, and carry 2 xtras along w/my camera, fully charged at all times.

Thanks, Tiny. Do you buy the knockoffs or the real Nikon battery? I have read that the knockoffs work well but can be difficult to take in and out of the camera. That is a concern for me. So I bought the Nikon yesterday for $33. But I will get it by Wednesday, since my trip is on April 6.
